New Years Eve – Hair Tutorial

Couldn’t say goodbye to 2014 without a classic elegant outfit post for New Years Eve a little bit inspired in the Great Gatsby. This time I took advantage of the occasion to show you guys how I do this hairstyle I’ve posted several times before.  Click below to see the whole post 🙂

No podia decirle adios al 2014 sin un ultimo look elegante de año nuevo un poco inspirado en the Great Gatsby. Esta vez aproveche para mostrarles un poco mas y hacer un pequeño tutorial de como me hago este peinado que he posteado varias veces en el blog. Hagan click abajo para ver el post completo 🙂

First thing you need is any chain necklace bigger than the diameter of your head (could be any color). You will then put it on as a headband and close it up.

Lo primero que necesitan es un collar cualquiera mas grande que su cabeza. Luego se lo ponen como si fuese una vincha y lo cierran.

It will obviously hang on your head so make sure you put it on nicely and grab your hair up.  

Luego se recojen el pelo hacia arriba para poder asegurar esa parte suelta que queda abajo.

Then with a couple of bobby pins, hold that remaining part to the bottom of your head above the neck.

Yo use un par de ganchitos negros y lo enganche sobre ell cuello como pueden ver en la foto de arriba.

Once its well secured, let your hair down and grab a strand from one side. Roll it and grab it with a bobby pin, just like you do with any regular half ponytail.

Una vez que este bien seguro, se sueltan el pelo y cogen un pedazo de un lado enrollandolo hacia atras, como si se hicieran media cola.

Now the other side. I grabbed a strand and did a little braid and grabbed it with a bobby pin. I generally do this when I have my hair side parted so I have more hair on one side.

Luego el otro lado, esta vez solo hice una trenza y la cogi con un ganchito (suelo hacer esto cuando tengo raya al costado y hay mas pelo en un lado que en otro).

I like to take advantage and give some volume while im this step by pulling some pieces up so it looks more puffy. 

Me gusta aprovechar este paso para darle volumen a mi peinado cogiendo delicadamente algunos pedazos hacia arriba para que la media cola se vea mas grande.

Curl a piece of hair close to your face with any flat iron or curl wand if you want to give the hairstyle a retro vibe.

Puedes hacerte un par de rulos en un mechon cerca al pelo con una plancha o rizador para darle un toque mas retro al look.

Here comes the hard part. I grabbed the entire hair and started doing a braid, but just for a second and then grabbed it in a ponytail. So the result is a tiny braided section and then the ponytail.

Esta parte se pone un toque mas complicada. Me recogi todo el pelo debajo de la media cola, y comence a trenzar pero solo por dos segundos, luego de hacer un par de trenzadas pare y me amarre el pelo en una cola.

Next step is grabbing the whole ponytail and roll it inwards on the tiny braided section from the previous step. So the entire hairdo gets inside itself. I repeated this step several times until it turned into an updo.

El siguiente paso fue coger toda la cola y enrollarla hacia adentro del pedazito de trenza del paso anterior. Como si el peinado entero se metiera adentro de si mismo. Repeti este paso varias veces hasta que se convirtio en un moño.

Final step: secure it with some bobby pins and finally its done! 🙂

Hope you guys enjoyed this tutorial. This hair do happens in less than 4 seconds so it was a little bit hard for me to stop in every step for the picture! For the outfit I was wearing a pair of Miss Me earrings and the perfect Nasty Gal dress with the most elegant and romantic aesthetic. I seriously can’t get enough how this sequined dress makes me think of the Great Gatsby. I’ve always had a little obsession with the Roaring Twenties 🙂 Wishing you the most amazing New Years Eve and see you in 2015 with so much more!

Espero que les haya gustado este tutoria.! El peinado en realidad sucede en menos de 10 segundos asi que fue un poquito dificil parar para la foto de cada paso! De outfit use unos aretes de Miss Me y un vestido de Nasty Gal que amo con todo mi corazon por que tiene una onda romantica y elegante que me recuerda al libro the Greay Gatsby y toda la era de los 20. Me encanta que sea blanco por que hace que el look sea mas dramatico (un vestido de lentejuelas de cualquier otro color no seria lo mismo). En fin, cuentenme que les parecio.
